About this educational activity

Tribology in hip arthroplasty

Accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of England*

Tribology is the study of friction, wear and lubrication, and design of bearings. Articulating components should minimise the generation of wear particles in order to optimize long-term survival of the prosthesis. This module aims at providing a good understanding of the principle of tribology in total joint arthroplasty and how bearing choice can influence success and improve patient outcomes.
